Childbirth Classes 2009 thru 2010
March 2, 9 & 16 for babies due in April and May
May 4, 11 & 16 for babies due in June, July, August & September
August 31 and September 7 & 14 for babes due in October and November
November 2, 9 & 16 for babies due in December 2010 and January 2011
Classes are held on Tuesdays from 6-9 pm in the Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta, Shasta Room located behind the Mercy Cancer Center. Please call Chari Bryan, 926-6239 for more information. If you miss a class or session for your due date, please call to make other arrangements.

DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP
Did you know that Mercy Mt. Shasta and the Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center sponsor a monthly Diabetes support group? The group focuses on prevention and management strategies for both Type I and II Diabetic patients. They meet the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Community Resource Center located at 109 E. Lake in Mt. Shasta, for more information call (530) 926-1400.
HEALTHCARE–RELATED SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta and Mercy Auxiliary Mt. Shasta are offering scholarships to graduating high school senior and on-going college students who are enrolling in healthcare-related courses of study at accredited colleges and universities.
Two $1,000 scholarships are available from Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta and three $1,000 scholarships are available from Mercy Auxiliary Mt. Shasta. The deadline for submittal of completed scholarship applications is Friday, March 26th, 2010, no later than 3 PM in Mercy Mt. Shasta’s administrative office. Applications may be mailed or hand-delivered (but may not be submitted electronically). One application form may be used for both scholarships.

Criteria for selection include the following:
Healthcare focused major, involvement in community and educational institutional activities, scholastic ability (GPA 3.0 or higher), enrollment in an accredited college/university for the 2010 fall semester, Siskiyou County resident and personal biography. Merit is the primary basis for scholarship award; financial need is a consideration, but is not a basis for award by the selection committee.
Accompanying letters of recommendation are required, as indicated on the application form. Scholarship funds will be sent in the name of the recipient to the accredited college/university in which the student is enrolled.
