Dominated by soaring spires of ancient granite, Castle Crags State Park is just south of Mt. Shasta City.  Forty miles to the east lies McArthur Burney Falls State Park .The parks centerpiece is the 129 foot Burney Falls, which is not the highest or largest waterfall in the State, but possibly the most beautiful.  Just a couple hours drive from Mt. Shasta is Lassen National Park and a bit further north is the beautiful Crater Lake National Park with its inspiring combination of a deep, pure lake, so blue in color with sheer cliffs, almost two thousand feet high.  Closer to home both the Klamath National Forest and the Shasta Trinity National Forest offer a multitude of camping opportunities available year round for the outdoor enthusiast.
