Our focus is to provide medical, emotional and spiritual support and care for those whose illness cannot be cured, and to enrich every moment of remaining life.
Mercy Hospice Mt. Shasta is a licensed and certified Hospice agency, and is a part of Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta. We meet state, federal licensing, and certification requirements for JCAHO, Medicare, Medi-Cal; and most private insurance plans cover hospice services. We rely heavily on community support to fund services for patients with little or no insurance. Including the loan of home equipment such as a wheelchair, walker, commode, etc. if needed. Mercy Hospice Mt. Shasta's office is open, Monday thru Friday, from 9:00 am -4:00 pm. A registered Hospice nurse is available "on-call" 24 hrs. day. Our Hospice team-approach includes a Medical Director, Registered Nurse, Home Health Aide, Social Worker, Chaplain, Physical Therapist, and volunteers. The Hospice Medical Director meets regularly with the Hospice team to assess the plan of care, pain management, and progress.
At Mercy Hospice, we feel that most patients are more comfortable in familiar surroundings. Care is primarily based in the home, enabling families to remain together in peace, comfort and dignity, and is provided by professional caregivers and volunteers. For patients without a caregiver, Mercy Hospice staff will make every effort to help set-up a caregiving plan that may include friends, neighbors, or paid caregivers...someone who is willing to assume the caregiver role on a regular basis.
Mercy Hospice treats the person instead of the disease, focusing on the family instead of just the individual, and emphasizes comfort and quality of life.
Follow-up bereavement support is provided for surviving family members, caregivers. Support groups are offered throughout the year.
