Maternity Services
Excellent maternity care in a warm and comfortable suite.

Our labor/delivery/recovery rooms offer a private, comfortable and homelike setting for delivery, yet are equiped with some of the latest technology.  Our child birth programs help to prepare the whole family for the arrival of a new baby.  Classes include labor support skills, breastfeeding instruction, tours of Labor/Delivery/Recovery unit, relaxation techniques, as well as up-to-date information on the latest technology. For more information contact Chari Bryan, RN, Childbirth Educator at (530) 926-6239.

Mercy Mt. Shasta OB Program Scores High:  Mercy Mt. Shasta score for Breastfeeding Rates is 95.3% (average for California hospitals is 89.9%).  Breastfeeding is a well-established, low-cost and low-tech preventive intervention with far-reaching benefits for mothers and babies.  Exclusive breastfeeding in the hospital setting increases exclusive breadtfeeding at home.  The greatest benefits accrue from breastfeeding babies exclusively for the first six months of life-that is, breast milk is the baby's only food.

"New Baby News"  now you can meet Mercy Mt. Shasta's newest citizens online at our "virtual nursery".  This new program offers new parents an easy and timely way to announce the birth of their baby to friends and family around the world. Each announcement includes the baby's birth info and photo.  Visitors to the baby's web page can email the news of the arrival from there, add their congratulations to the baby book and read the baby book entries others have added.
